Who owns AI-generated images and video?
What Genlaxy's terms say about the images and clips you generate, what copyright law may or may not add, and sensible habits for commercial use.
"Can I use this?" is the first question anyone asks about a generated image for work. The honest answer has two parts: what the service you used allows, and what the law where you are says. The first is simple. The second is still being worked out in courts and parliaments.
What Genlaxy's terms say
- We claim no ownership of what you generate.
- We place no restriction on commercial use of your outputs.
- You are responsible for how you use them - including whether a particular use is lawful where you are.

What the law may add
Copyright traditionally protects works made by people. In several countries, authorities have taken the view that an image produced entirely by a machine, with no meaningful human creative input, is not protected by copyright at all. Where a person makes real creative choices - selecting, arranging, editing, combining - those contributions may be protected even if the raw output is not.
In practice that means you can usually use an output, but you may not be able to stop others from using the same or a similar one. The rules differ between countries and are changing, which is why we do not promise more than our own terms can deliver.
Output is not controlled
Images and clips are produced automatically by AI models. Genlaxy does not review or control what a model generates. A render can, by chance, resemble an existing work, a trademark or a real place. Treat every output as material you are responsible for checking before you publish it.
Sensible habits for commercial work
- Do not prompt for other people's brands, characters or artwork if you intend to use the result commercially.
- Check outputs for logos, text and recognisable designs before publishing.
- Keep your own copies, prompts and dates. Your library shows each render with its prompt, but generated files are deleted after a retention period - download what you use, and note how it was made in case you ever need to show it.
- Add your own creative work - editing, compositing, layout. It improves the result and may strengthen your rights in it.
- Label AI content where the platform or law expects it. Many platforms now ask for it.
